Sterling Scholar

So I just applied for Sterling Scholar in the arts category. Basically they choose one person per category in the school. I just hope I don't lose. I had to put together my portfolio and they'll be talking about it when they interview me. So I'm pretty nervous. Kinda having a hard time drawing but I'll get over it. ;P
I have really been bad with posting lately so i'll pull the "no time" excuse and come back soon with pictures.

Exploring Photography

So as the school year is progressing i'm falling more and more into photography, these last two days i've been having my own "shoots" and everything. The first was working with water, later perfected in photoshop. And the second was with one of my friends who didn't mind being abuse modeling for me. i'll post more of them later after I edit. enjoy :)

Patterns!

Sooo! As stressful as school is at least I'm being kept busy. I'm hoping that I'll get use to the work load enough to do some serious work in studio art. These pictures are for my photo 2 class, these are just a few out of many, the assignment was patterns. so tell me what you think!

New Work!

So finally "finished" with this piece. I say "finished" because most likely I'll come back to it and do more. school starts on Wednesday! I'm going to miss the summer but my classes look like they're going to rock this year. I'm taking studio art again, for which i haven't done any of the summer assignments. oops. I'll just do them during the first semester.
This picture was done in photo shop. took awhile, I'm trying this new thing were i include backgrounds since i suck at them.

The Sandman's Spell

So I've been a bit busy the last few days but i finally finished this painting I've been meaning to do forever. It was really fun to do, all watercolor and watercolor pencils except for the stars which are chalk. There will be more work following because i still haven't done the three assignments when I go back to school. Which I noticed will be a major grade. so fun for fun... time to get my ass into gear. Until next time!

Getting behind

Soooo I'm determined to keep posting on this blog frequently! why I'm posting on a Friday. I wasn't home at all yesterday. I realize i haven't done any studio art projects this summer and the summer is half gone. i need to get three done before school starts. I'm thinking for my concentration this year to do something with urban living since i live a boring suburban life. maybe I'll pick up some graffiti. I worked on an old picture this week and just photoshopped it a bit. I try to work on more things next week.

Awards and other fun stuff

So first item of business is my apology to all my watchers. I haven't kept up with my posting. i went camping and then things happened and other excuses.:/ I'm lame.
Second item of business is that i got tagged the Honest Scrap award from Sharon McPherson on her blog http://bookishblonde.blogspot.com/. Thank you very much! I pass this on to ten other blogs and then tell ten HONEST things about myself that my readers don't know, which is a lot since I'm new at this game. The ten lucky blogs are

Okay. i had to meet a few new people to get all of the blogs but i did it! Now lets see if i can come up with ten things about me.

1- Math is my worse subject, the numbers just don't click for me, it's most embarrassing when you mess up when giving the change to the customer.

2- I love history. The whole story and every thing is amazing. my favorite to learn about right now is probably 50s and 60s.

3- My favorite author is Ayn Rand. her books are so powerful and inspiring especially the fountainhead.

4- I have two fat cats and they're my babies. The problems they've caused oh!

5- I'm a perfectionist. it wreaks havoc on my erasers.

6-My eraser is one of my best friends even if i do "misplace" it often. like now for instance.

7- I love nature, every thing is just so beautiful.

8- I like to learn about things that pertain to health. i find the human body fascinating.

9- I use to be an anime/ manga fanatic for the longest time, it's how i started drawing. i still watch it from time to time.

10-I don't like twilight. Bella is a moron.

Next item of business is what work I've done and that's not much. really, not much. Today i did manage to do a picture for a girl i know of her and her boy friend. it kinda looks like them, *shrugs* practice makes perfect.

Illustration Friday

This is the first time I've participated in "Illustration Friday" which gives a word every week that you can illustrate. The word this week was Worn. So i thought a Raggedy Ann doll would fit it rather well. I did all of it in either watercolour or watercolour pencils. I hope you enjoy it!

Photography!

While I didn't get much time to work on illustration between work and hanging out with my friend I did get to stage a photo shoot with that said friend. She subjected herself to my will and miraculously didn't kill me for touching her hair. The focus of the photo shoot was to get use to setting my camera on different settings. Hella frustrating but i got some good shots.

After the weekend!

Well i did a lot over the weekend! I finished this one

The one of the birds was spontaneous. it was done on cardboard with acrylic i referenced some sketches i worked on.

And !'ve been working on my digital painting skills. This is a work in progress of a painting style I saw one you tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWgllQc76QY&feature=channel_page Bugmeyer is on the podcast WIP that i listen too also at http://wippodcast.com/ very fun to listen too.

I heard another thing worth mentioning from a blog i follow Zero2Illo. The blogger mentioned that there needs to be a production over consumption. time spent working on my own stuff = production. time spent looking at others work and style= consumption.

Last but not least i found out about a website called Illustration Friday which sounds really cool. it's a website that gives artists a topic each week to illustrate. I'm looking forward to illustrating them.

goals till next time: work more on my work and less time looking at others, participate in illustration friday's topic this week drifting, and stay on one direction and stop babbling. I hope you enjoyed this post. if not give me some constructive criticism. :)

1st thursday! WIP

Hello! I have to admit i haven't been working on art as much as i would like. but this is a work in progress that I have been working on. I'm experimenting with multi media drawing. used watercolor and chalk pastel so far. Trying to find a way i can clean it up so the characters don't get smeared. I think the background is coming along. It's one of my goals is to be better at putting characters in a setting. so if anyone at all is reading this tell me what you think! oh and here is a link to the podcasts i'm listening to http://ninjamountain.blogspot.com/ and http://wippodcast.com/

flower maid

This was apart of my ap portfolio. one of my personal favorites :)

The Beginning

So a brand new blog with a new purpose. The purpose is to document my progress in achieving my artistic goals. Laugh if you may, but I'm determined. It's the starting of the summer and I want to try some new things with my art and prepare to apply to colleges.

In my junior year, which is now over, i took the art studio AP test. Still waiting for the results, but I'm going to take the class again in my senior year which I'm super excited for. My teacher is awesome. But I want to push myself more than that in my work over the summer. so my goal is to post my works in progress, finished works, sites i find helpful, and anything else going on in my life, art or not. I'm thinking for the summer at least that I'll post every Tuesday and Thursdays.

As my life is going now there are so many new things that I get to experience. For the first time in a year and something months I'm single and plan on staying that way. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a gym membership with my friend so we can hang out more. For the last couple days I've been sick and have been listening to two podcast hosted by artists. one is WIP and the other is Ninja Mountain Scrolls.
